We came, we saw, we got a sore head!

What do you get when you cross 9 DG team members, an RMHC Gala dinner and a private concert with Joe Camilleri? A rip roaring weekend, that’s what!

The 2 offices came together last weekend to help out at the RMHC Victoria 21st Gala Fundraiser and to spend some time working on plans for the coming financial year. As always, copious amounts of wine were consumed, great music was played and exciting plans were forged.

Here in Perth our Friday started early. Large coffees and vegemite on toast in the Qantas Club was the only thing to make our 6am departure bearable. Landing in Melbourne a few hours later, we realised we shouldn’t have been moaning about the weather on the west – Melbourne was providing a stark reminder as to what winter could really feel like… Bbbrrrr (it was at this point Beau realised he should have bought hobo gloves like Jude and I had!)….. The lovely Kath greeted us with red bulls and a smile and off we went.

Beau was straight off to work – giving the team a hand at Crown with sound checks for Ice House, House of Gaga and Stand and Deliver. Judes and I joined Jon and let our creative juices flow in preparation for an upcoming pitch for IHG. Before long it was time to check in and start preparing to frock up for the nights ball. Check in was an interesting process – first room was a fail with not enough beds for the 3 of us. Second room also a fail – a painter was half way through his days work in our bathroom. Third time was the charm and we finally got into our room (I’ll refrain from mentioning the chain of apartments!). True to form, Jude and I put the kettle on for a much needed cuppa tea!

Finally it was ball time! Judes and I were lucky enough to be hosting clients along with Dave, Kath and Jon at the RMHC Gala. Its always interesting sitting down at one of your own gigs. You always want to jump up and give the team a hand! As always, the DG Producers had it down pat and the show was an amazing success. Ice House were phenomenal, House of Gaga amazing and Stand and Deliver as usual were an absolute hit. Team drinks post show are a little blurry for most of us – who said more wine was a good idea??

Not surprisingly, the next day was not a fresh one. Lots of carbs were consumed to soak up last nights fun and for me, re-runs of property shows on the lifestyle channel was just what the doc ordered!

Sunday had arrived. Hangovers were a distant memory and wine was on the cards! An amazing lunch at Industi had been planned with an intimate performance by Joe Camilleri and band. We love Joe. We work with him a lot and he never disappoints. Good food, good wine, the DG Team and amazing live music – yep – pretty much a perfect Sunday.

After a very long lunch, some of decided to kick on to the good ole College Lawn. The band played Hey Jude for Judi, Dave Jeff and I solved the problems of the world and Judes sister hugged everyone – a lot. Fun fun times.

Monday morning and despite last nights antics, today is a big day of planning. A couple of hash browns and some good coffee and the team congregated upstairs on bean bags to chat about who DG is and where we want to go.

I have to say, I’m very proud of our team. We really came together fabulously on Monday and put together some pretty cool plans for the next 12 months. Its really exciting to see what we can come up with when we bounce off of each other and have a great energy in the room.

A very early Japanese feed was the perfect way to finish off what had been a pretty big few days. One last glass of wine over beautifully cooked tepinyaki and we were all ready for bed. Tuesday morning arrived and team Perth packed our bags.

See ya later Melbs…. As always, we came, we saw, we got a sore head….. We’ll be back soon.

Xxx
